You may be asking yourself the question ’Should I book a Maternity or Newborn Photoshoot’? Then come the after thoughts, are you shy in front of a camera or unsure about having your photo taken, what to wear, what if you feel awkward or silly, or simply just not feeling your best self. Then you start coming up with all the excuses NOT to have the Photoshoot, but ask yourself this, Do you ever really regret having photos of you and your babies together?

To be honest I think most women experience some kind of uncertainty around this subject. I know after having my son I really didn’t feel photo worthy, and definitely didn’t feel myself but there was just 1 thing that took my mind off all the feelings.. my beautiful baby boy and the memories we wanted to create for him and for our family. How special for us to be able to share these precious images with our son. Having seen all my friends experience this wonderful feeling well before me I realised very quickly how fast our babies grow, they are only this tiny and sleepy and delicate for a minute, and I knew this was a memory I wanted to be frozen in time forever.

As I had been through many years of infertility and pregnancy losses I knew one day if I was ever blessed I would absolutely be documenting every moment, including a Maternity Photoshoot in Adelaide. I was so incredibly proud of myself and my body to be carrying my healthy baby and to have made it through the ugly side of Hyperemesis Gravidarum for 20 grueling weeks of my pregnancy. I was starting to develop the Pregnancy Glow, and by 33 weeks I was enjoying Nandos chicken burgers and ready to be captured in all my glory like the queen I felt like. It was such an empowering and humbling journey and experience, and I actually felt beautiful on that beach, hair blowing in the wind, sun glistening on my skin and blue skies above, every emotion was captured. I have never regretted investing in these precious fleeting moments of my life, because now when my son asks me about being in my belly or when he was a baby I have all the memories to show him and it actually brings back so many wonderful emotions and feelings and I treasure these visual memories displayed for all to see in my home.

I absolutely recommend doing your research and finding the right Maternity and Newborn Photographer in Adelaide who will capture you and your family in the most organic and accurate way. Look for someone who you trust and feel comfortable with, someone who will tell your story in a way you want it to be told. Most importantly somebody who will listen and work with you to create a Natural and Relaxed Photoshoot. These special times should be memorable and fun, if you are feeling stressed or anxious then I think you may have the wrong Photographer.

Important things to look for when finding the right Maternity and Newborn Photographer;

- Have a conversation with them before booking, are they nice, relaxed and fun to chat to, does the conversation flow easily?

- Look at examples of their work, does their style resonate with you, do you get the warm and fuzzies, is it your vibe?

- Don't book based on price, look at the quality of work and explore the packages on offer and all that is included for the price, you get what you pay for!

- Word of mouth referrals are great, because already there is a level of trust

- Be aware of trends or styled sessions, trends can date, every individual is unique and so should their images be

- Make sure there is a contract in place which protects both client and photographer and READ IT BEFORE YOU SIGN IT!

- Do they have any info or Styling Advice to assist when planning your session

- Is there a cancellation or rescheduling policy

- Checkout the Reviews from real people
